To encourage innovation and scientific research in mountain regionsIn accordance with their desire to promote European mountain regions, Mountain Chambers of Commerce and Industry decided to encourage scientific research on mountain ranges in European universities.
Thésard Prize 2009A 5000 € prize, co-financed by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Vosges and by the UCCIMAC, will be awarded to the author of a thesis centered on "mountain" issues, which will be chosen by the Scientific Committe on Mountain Regions.
To be pre-selected, theses had to have been defended after 2005 and had to deal with the fields of human, social or economic sciences. Moreover, they need to have proposed concrete solutions boosting innovation, competitiveness and sustainable economic development in mountain territories.The Thésard Prize 2009 will be presented during the 3rd European Biennial Event of Highland Regions, on 17th September 2009, at 8.30 pm, at the beginning of the Gala evening taking place in the Thermes Napoléon of the Hotel Prestige Impérial.
NomineesAmong 12 theses which have been forwarded to the CCI des Vosges from all around Europe, 4 of them have been selected to participate in the finals of the Thésard Prize 2009. The winner will be chosen in June 2009 by the members of the Scientific Committee on Mountain regions.
