The Scientific Committee on Mountain Regions

This multidisciplinary group of researchers, managed by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Vosges, brings together 13 moutain specialists from different fields and from all around Europe.

In addition to these researchers, M. Yves DUBIEF, President of the CCI of the Vosges, M. André MARCON, President of the UCCIMAC, of the CRCI of Auvergne and of Euromontana, and Vice-President of the ACFCI, as well as M. Maurice BRUN, President of the CCI of the Hautes-Alpes, also participate in the Scientific Committee. Together, they represent all mountain key economic players and members of the Club des CCI de Montagne and of the European Network of Mountain Key Economic Players.

The Scientific Committee aims at proposing new strategies, making proposals for new policies in favour of the sustainable development of mountain territories and supporting mountain entrepreneurs in their anticipation of tomorrow's issues and challenges.

Hence, the missions of the Scientific Committee are:

working as a think-tank and making proposals, thanks to the publication of research works, in order to support and generate new policies in favour of the sustainable development of mountain territories.
Participating in the organisation of the European Biennial Event of Highland Regions, by selecting topics and speakers, and by feeding debates with datas and studies.
Participating in events on mountain territories, like Vert Massif, Euromontana, the Club des CCI de Montagne, and so on.

Moreover, one of its main missions is to chose which thesis will be awarded the Thésard Prize among several research works on mountains pulbished by European PhD students. This award is handed every two years, during the European Biennial Event of Highland Regions. Their choice is based on considerations including: innovation, quality, application to mountain regions, relation to economy, use for companies, and so on.

Finally, the Scientific Committee co-operates with mountain compagnies, in order to give access to research grants to PhD students. These CIFRE grants allow mountain key economic players to finance theses which implications could support the sustainable development of mountain territories.

He has been Regional Consellor of the Piemont for 15 years, in charge of the DS group, of Agricultural issues in mountain regions.
